Prior to this ongoing inspection by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) today, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino called for an urgent meeting yesterday morning with the members of the Outdoor Advertising Association of the Philippines (OAAP).
The MMDA informed the OAAP this will be a year-round inspection and that starting today, May 4, 2011, they (MMDA) will undertake the following:
- Inspect billboard structures along EDSA to evaluate their easements and structural stability.
- If the said billboard structure is in compliance with the national Building Code and local ordinances, the said billboard will be tagged by the MMDA with a control number.
- If the said billboard is NOT in compliance with the National Building Code and local ordinances, the material of the said billboard structure will be rolled down and a notice of violation will be issued for compliance within 15 days upon receipt of notice.
