1. OVERVIEW:
The Tropical Storm East of Northern Mindanao has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named “CHEDENG” (SONGDA).

Location of Eye/Center: (as of 4:00 A.M.) 880 kms East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar

Coordinates: 10.5° N, 134.7 °E

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to
120 kph.

Movement Forecast: to move West Northwest at 13 kph

Forecast Positions: Tuesday morning: 620 kms East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar

Wednesday morning: 390 km East Northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or
510 km East Southeast of Virac, Catanduanes

Thursday morning: 240 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes


2. ACTIONS TAKEN:

• NDRRMC Severe Weather Bulletin No. 1 re Tropical Storm “CHEDENG” (SANGDA) was disseminated to all OCD Regional Centers through SMS and facsimile and uploaded into the NDRRMC website for further dissemination to their respective local disaster risk reduction and management councils
(LDRRMCs) from the provincial down to the municipal levels 2

• Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (RDRRMCs) through the OCD Regional Centers were directed to undertake precautionary measures in their AOR. Likewise, the public and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) were advised to take appropriate precautionary measures such as pre-emptive evacuation of families in lowlying and mountainous areas as necessary
